Julianna graduated from Fairfield University with her Masters of Arts in School Counseling; she then worked with the Milford, Southport, and Stratford school districts as a school counselor to gain experience working with children, both in middle and high school. 

Julianna is particularly experienced in collaborating with special education teams and staff to support students in their diverse or individual needs, both in terms of academic and mental health goals. 

The counseling skills that Julianna particularly helped kids practice includes emotional regulation skills, advocacy and communication skills, behavioral changes, and various executive functioning skills.

Crisis intervention, conflict resolution, parent-skills training and collaboration, as well as coping skill and goal development are all fantastic skills that Julianna brings to counseling at the Listening Nest.

Currently, Julianna has expanded her experience even further by working with clients of various ages and backgrounds; Julianna has learned how to utilize ERP and DBT, to support those with OCD, ADHD, anxiety, and trauma.

Julianna offers free consultation calls to learn more about those seeking therapy, answering any questions they may have and seeing if it is a good fit. She is available for in-person and Telehealth with Husky or private pay clients. 

Ambergina graduated from Southern CT State University with her Master’s in School Counseling; Amber then worked as a school counselor in the Norwalk, Milford, and Stratford public school districts. Amber has had a rather unique role as a support professional at Transitions CT, which involves preparing individuals with disabilities for employment and post-graduation planning.

Through these job experiences before working at The Listening Nest, Amber worked with the 18 and under community in various environments and with different goals; this involved working with support staff, families, and other professionals on a regular basis. 

Some of the main areas of focus included providing crisis managements for students, teaching them how to navigate peer conflicts, and building their executive functioning skills like emotion regulation and impulse control.

Given the needs of the community, Amber has excellent multicultural awareness, as she has had to consider other factors, such as food and housing insecurity, safety and trauma, transportation difficulties, and financial hardships of her clients in general.

Amber utilizes a culture and trauma-informed, person centered approach, that focuses on solutions and one’s strengths. Amber has continued to work with this population, as well as those on the spectrum, and especially has a passion for helping those in the LGBTQ+ community.
